Smart Boards, Active Boards, etc. -- I have just been hearing about the mimmio (?) and airliners, all variants of the smart board. Would it be possible to have our meeting one time at a school that has both of these so that we can get some practice using them and compare costs, advantages/disadvantages? Is anyone else interested.

9/27 --Last week I went to Staunton to see an Airliner. (Sorry I missed the library meeting because of this.) The Airliner is about the size of a laptop. The librarian I visited has trained her classes to look at the big screen which the Airliner shows to. She passes the Airliner around to the students who do the assignment while the others watch the large screen. She likes it better than the Smart Board which is big and bulky for moving from room to room, and often the student using it stands in front of his work so others can't see it, or else the student using it bumps into it, and it has to be reset. (Sorry for being so wordy). She feels the lesson holds more interest because it goes more quickly with the smaller board. It is wireless and costs less than the Smart Board.

I'm sure I would like this technology better if it wasn't so cumbersome and if I had have some really good lessons. Could we spend a meeting actually having some demonstrations by some of you who are more versed in it than I? Melissa and I thought that if you had enough laptops it would be just as effective to do the Smart Board lessons on them. I would appreciate any input.
